Inspiration 27 / Catherine Losing + Anna Lomax

All

Sometimes stalking can be a good thing. Thanks to Instagram's suggestion button, I've been able to discover a lot of new artists that weren't already on my radar. One particular photographer and set designer duo that inspires me this week is Catherine Losing and Anna Lomax.

Catherine is an incredibly talented photographer based in the UK whose work can only be described as colorful, playful, and highly conceptual. Working between London and New York, Anna is an artist and set designer that is fascinated with popular culture. Her work is bizarre yet beautiful in that she places random objects into new or interesting environments.

Both of these women have worked together in the past but their most recent collaboration was a series of 18 images commissioned by curator Paola Antonelli and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. These photographs were featured as part of MoMA's first fashion exhibition since 1944. Catherine and Anna photographed iconic fashion items like the Levis 501s, the Birkin, ballet flats, Adidas, and more.

I'm not sure why I disliked still life photography when I first got into shooting but I want to believe it was because I never came across this type of work. The kind that doesn't feel dated or boring but colorful and conceptual like Catherine and Anna's work.
