One Prop Challenge / 02

One Prop Challenge is a new series that allows us to play around with ideas, learn new techniques, and challenge ourselves as creatives. You can read about our first challenge here.

For our second one prop challenge, I picked a vase as my prop. We wanted to do something interesting with it, so we decided that instead of just filling it with flowers, we would make it look like it was spilling over and the flowers were melting. We used cherry yogurt for the puddle.

Originally we wanted to use the flowers to create a shadow over the image, but our light source was too far away and we weren't able to create the crisp lines that we wanted. In the future it would be better to use a light source that is movable and provides more control.
