Black Creatives You Should Follow Right Now

All

Hi all. Our hearts are heavy tonight as we reflect on all of the injustices that are happening in this very moment. As a POC myself, I’ve had a difficult time trying to put into words how I’m feeling while having fear and anxiety of not communicating the right thing. What I do know is that we must do better and we’re so grateful for the creative community that we have to hold us accountable. While not all of us can be on the frontlines, there are many ways in which you can support the movement. We wanted to gather some of our favorite Black creatives and photographers that we know and love including some that we’ve recently discovered and have quickly become obsessed with. You can support each one of these artists by following their Instagram accounts, purchasing their art, or simply sharing their work on the ‘gram to share the love. We’ll also be sharing these amazing creatives on our stories over the next several days while we take a break from our social to support our BIPOC community during this turbulent time. We hope you find a new favorite creative in this post and that you are inspired by them as much as we are. #amplifymelanatedvoices

aundre larrow

We had the amazing opportunity of getting to know Aundre personally as I (Arabela) hosted him for a past Adobe Live on Behance several months back. If you’d like to watch the replay, click here for day 1 and here for day 2. He’s an amazing editorial and portrait photographer based in Brooklyn, New York and you should absolutely be following him.

elise swopes

Elise Swopes is another incredible creative that I (Arabela) had the opportunity of hosting for Adobe Live as well and I just have to say that she is a wonderful human with so much positivity and light. Watch the replay for day 1 here, day 2 here, and day 3 here. Her work often combines city elements with nature to create these magical worlds. There are many things to love about Elise besides her photography work and that includes her inspirational reminders on her stories, her podcast Swopes So Dope, and all of her educational resources on her site. Support her as an artist by following her on IG, sharing her work, and checking out everything she has to offer here.

quentin monge

We recently found this artist through an account we currently follow on Instagram and are just obsessed with his illustrations. Go follow his IG because he’ll be launching an online shop of prints and originals v soon!

nakia pleasant

We discovered Nakia a while back when we came across her work as a stylist on several portraits of twins and lookalikes and we couldn’t get enough. We also featured her on a past inspiration post which you can see here. Go follow her IG because she shares a lot of her own fashionable looks as well.

adrienne raquel

How could we not include Adrienne? She is the queen of that soft, vibrant, and dreamy aesthetic. We also featured her in a past Inspiration post which you can see here. I mean really, enough said.

hank washington

Hank is another one of our creative friends whom we had the pleasure of getting to know after Elle hosted him for Adobe Live last year. If you want to watch the replay, click here for day 1, here for day 2, and here for day 3. He is the kindest soul and is so talented. Give him a follow on Instagram and shop his online store.

sacrée frangine

Another creative we recently discovered that we’re obsessing over. This creative duo is based in France and we’ve totally fallen in love with their faceless humans of all colors. Follow their IG and shop their prints here.

denisse myrick

Denisse is a photographer and digital content creator based out of Phoenix, Arizona. We love that she helps her creative community by offering creative services such as media kit creation, personal and business branding, consulting and more. She’s also developed these amazing Lightroom desktop and mobile presets with POC in mind. Give her a follow and shop her presets here.

morgan harper nichols

One of our favorite illustrators and poets of all time, for sure! We absolutely love how Morgan combines illustration and words to create these amazing works of art that are so positive and uplifting. We also featured Morgan in a past Inspiration post here. Give her a follow and shop her art here.

serrandon

We can’t get enough of the way Serrandon uses color in his work. Love that he also uses that wide angle perspective in some of his photos as well. Give him a follow for more of his photography.

deun ivory

We love Deun’s photographic portraits of women of color. Her work is uplifting and empowering. Aside from her amazing photography, Deun also offers creative services including logo design, visual brand identity, web design, and more. Give her a follow and make sure to check out her creative services here.

kendra dandy (thee bouffants)

Kendra is another artist that we recently discovered thanks to Jessica Walsh. We adore the colors and textures in every piece of hers. It’s kind of out of the ordinary and we are loving it. Make sure to follow her on Instagram and shop her prints on Society6.

marcus byrd

While Marcus and I have never actually met (thanks social media), he was one of those creatives that I was super inspired by when I first started photographing in high school. I absolutely gravitate towards his black & white photography. Support his work and give him a follow!

danielle coke (oh happy dani)

Danielle is one of those artists whose work just speaks for itself. Based in Atlanta, her art focuses on faith, justice, and optimism. Just what we need right now. Give her a follow and subscribe to her newsletter for when her prints restock.

Is it the weekend yet?
